Earth Day \u2013 the day we remember the fragility of the planet, celebrate its strength, and commit to creating a better tomorrow for future generations.<\/p>\n

In the spirit of the 150th<\/sup> anniversary of Canada\u2019s confederation, the theme this year is \u201cEarthPLAY for Earth Day 2017: Connect to your nature!\u201d According to Earth Day Canada<\/a>, \u201ccelebrations across the country are highlighting our great outdoors.\u201d<\/p>\n

This commemoration has great meaning globally as well. The Earth Day Network<\/a> reports that over 1 billion people now take part in this annual celebration! Promotion of the Trees for the Earth Campaign<\/a>, invites citizens to plant 7.8 billion trees worldwide by 2020 \u2013 one for every person projected to be living on the planet.<\/p>\n

Our outdoors is important to everyone \u2013 whether you\u2019re a gardener or simply love trees and flowers, whether you\u2019re a cyclist<\/a> or ardent transit fan<\/a>, you probably feel as strongly about Earth Day as we do \u2013 Earth Day shares so many of the vivaNext goals.<\/p>\n

Celebrating Earth Day is a wonderful, worthy endeavour. However, it\u2019s so important to think about it every day of the year.
